Downloading and Installing the Preflight Settings

Setup preflight settings for InDesign - .idpp
  1. Download the InDesign Version (Click Here)
  2. Select Window >> Output >> Preflight
  3. Unarchive downloaded file (unzip, open, etc.)
  4. Click the image in the top right corner of the popup
  5. Select “Define Profiles…”
  6. Click “Load Profile”
  7. Select “Cedar_Graphics_Preflight_v3.idpp”
  8. Click “Open”
  9. Click “Ok”
Set Cedar Graphics Preflight settings as Default
  1. Click “Preflight Options…”
  2. Change the Working Profile dropdown to “Cedar_Graphics_Preflight_v3”
  3. Click “Ok”
Acrobat 9+ - .kfp
  1. Download the Acrobat Version (Click Here)
  2. Unarchive downloaded file (unzip, open, etc.)
  3. Select menu Advanced >> Preflight…
  4. Select “Options…” from the top right corner
  5. Select “Import Preflight Profile…”
  6. Select the file “Cedar_Graphics_Preflight_v3.kfp”
  7. Press “Open”



Using the Cedar Graphics Preflight & PDF Output Setting in InDesign & Acrobat 9+

An additional tool that will preemptively catch any file errors is our in-document preflighting for InDesign. When installed and running, any errors will be noted along with details such as RGB images, low resolution graphics, missing bleeds, overset type, font issues and more.

Using Cedar Graphics file creation tools gets even better when utilizing our templates found in our resource center. Complicated folding pieces, envelopes, and pocket folders become a breeze with all of the panels and measurements the correct sizes.

What is a PDF Preset?

Cedar Graphics PDF presets and in-document preflight are valuable tools to ensure great results time after time. After loading our PDF presets, all the work is done for you when exporting or saving as a PDF. Our PDF preset is available for InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator and prepares the file properly for high definition printing.(offset or digital)

We have also provided different presets depending on the way your jobs are being printed. Please download the appropriate files for your job. If you need any help, please don't hesitate to ask!

Loading our Digital, Offset and Online Store PDF Presets

Compatible with all appropriate Adobe Software / Versions
  1. Download File for Offset Printing Jobs (click here)
  2. or
  3. Download File for Digital Printing Jobs (click here)
  4. or
  5. Download File for Online Store Jobs (click here)
  6. Unarchive downloaded file (unzip, open, etc.)
  7. Select File >> Adobe PDF Presets >> Define…
  8. Click “Load”
  9. Select “Cedar_Graphics_Output_v3.joboptions”
    (or Cedar_Graphics_Output_vDG.joboptions for digital)
    (or Cedar_Graphics_Output_vDSF.joboptions for Online Store)
    from the downloaded folder
  10. Click “Open” from the select file menu
  11. Click “Done”
To check to see that the preset was loaded properly:
  1. Select File >> AdobePDF Presets
  2. Cedar_Graphics_Output_V3” should appear near the bottom of that menu.
Quark v7/v8
  1. Download File (click here)
  2. Unarchive downloaded file (unzip, open, etc.)
  3. In Quark click Edit then "Output Styles"
  4. In pop up window click "Import"
  5. Browse to the downloaded file and select “Cedar_Graphics_QXD_Output_v1”
  6. Click “Open” from the select file menu
  7. Click “Done”
Quark v9/v10
  1. Download File (click here)
  2. Unarchive downloaded file (unzip, open, etc.)
  3. In Quark click Edit then "Output Styles"
  4. In pop up window click "Import"
  5. Browse to the downloaded file and select Cedar_Graphics_QXD_Output_v3
  6. Click “Open” from the select file menu

Embedded Fonts

Make sure all fonts
are embedded.

Use CMYK color profiles,
not RGB.


Overprint Settings

Carefully mind your
overprint settings.


Document Bleeds

Document bleeds
should be 1/8"


Spot Colors CMYK

PMS colors are for
spot printing.


Document Size

Carefully check your
document size.


No Important Information

No important info within 1/8" of edge.


Rich Black Color

Use 40/30/30/100 for
rich black.


Page Count

Carefully check your
page count.


DPI

Images should be
300-350 DPI.


Black Text

Use 100% Black for
small type.


PDF Preferred

We prefer print-ready PDF's.
