How to Setup a 5.5" x 8.5" Accordion Fold Brochure

Brochures can be used to build an image for your company, promote an event, update product spec’s, or for a hundred other purposes.

To lay out an Accordion fold piece in your design or layout program, use one page for the front and one page for the back, and measure out where the folds will be with guides (see figure below). Also, bleeds should only be set on the outside edges of the piece and must be .125” (1/8”) in size, but the page size should be defined as the final trim size.

    Flat Size – Inches (W x H):

    27.50″ x 8.5″

    Final Folded Size:

    5.5″ x 8.5″

    Panel Sizes:

    • 10 – 5.5″ x 8.5″ Panels

    LEARN MORE ABOUT FOLDED BROCHURES

    How are folded brochures made?

    1

    Proofing

The perfect folded brochure starts with preparation. Once we receive your brochure artwork we double check alignment as well as complete our standard prepress checks for resolution, color, fonts, and more.

    2

    Printing

Depending on order quantity and design requirements (PMS colors, foil, varnishes, etc. ) your folded brochure will either be printed on our HP Indigo 12000 or with our UV Offset presses.

    3

    Cutting & Folding

Once printed, your folded brochure will be trimmed and cut to final size. With heavier weight stocks, scoring is applied prior to folding to prevent the ink from cracking and results in a higher-quality and longer lasting finished piece.

The scary details of folded brochures.

When designing, visualize your folded brochure flattened out. Content on the interior pages should be oriented upside down and on the same side as the outside of your folded brochure.

Your design should extend .125” (1/8”) beyond the edge to allow room for cutting.

Make sure you have designed your folded brochure in CMYK, not RGB color space, for accurate color reproduction. If requested, we can print using Pantone (Spot) colors. Please label them in your artwork accordingly and notify us when requesting an estimate.
